With my art I try to create a world where imagination and reality meet. A place where anything can happen, where fate can change itself all of a sudden. A magical universe that people can escape inside and come out feeling powerful.
About Aya Faylee
I have often been told that my art is like poetry, but instead of playing with words my fingers dance with paint. And I love that people see that in my art because poetry has been an important part of me since my teenage days. It is the best friend I go to when my words are too heavy to carry.
I’ve been interested in art since I was a child. I was born in a place and a time where war was an everyday reality, where fear was the dark shadow invading people's minds. At that age I was determined to escape that reality, I didn't want war to steal my childhood. It was then when I discovered the magic of art, that I could use its power to see colours that had no names, and create fantasy worlds I could escape to.
Losing myself inside my paintings, I felt powerful, I felt like I could conquer the universe.
I started taking art seriously a few years ago when I bought a canvas and some paint and started to draw what was on my mind. It’s was at that moment when I realized I had found my true home.
I then studied art and started selling my work; hoping that people could escape inside it and come out feeling as powerful as I felt as a child.
